Sneak Peek: 2014/15 skis from Black Diamond
‘Carbon’ is the word which best describes Black Diamond’s new ultralight backcountry ski line up with a refined shape and carbon version of the Megawatt, Convert and Aspect Skis. These three skis represent some of the lightest skis for their size on the market.
Have a watch of the following video from the Outdoor Retailer show as Black Diamond's PR Guru John Dicuollo explains the line-up:
The Black Diamond Carbon Aspect Skis are the lightest and narrowest in the line up for those who take on big multi day tours with long approaches and huge mileage. Offered in a 166, 176 and 186cm length the Carbon Aspect has a semi-rocker tip and a 90mm waist with traditional tail.
The Black Diamond Carbon Convert Ski is the middle of the road ski and weighs 380 grams less per pair than the original thanks to its carbon fibre construction. Its versatile 105 waist and rocker tip and tail make it ideal for soft snow performance. It will be available in 164, 172, 180 and 188cm lengths and its optimized construction makes it the lightest ski on the market for its size.
The Black Diamond Megawatt Skis are made for deep powder days and have gotten even lighter this year to the tune of 240 grams while retaining powerful, hard-charging performance. They are available in a 178 and 188cm length. With a 120mm waist, rocker tip and semi-rocker tail they are made for slaying the pow.

There is also a new ski for the ladies next year called the Black Diamond Juice. It’s basically the revert for women and combines the classic touring dimensions with a floaty, rockered shape. The slightly softer flex should be fun, and provide easy touring in any conditions. It will be available in a 164, 172 and 180cm length with a 95mm waist.
