Sneak Peek at Summer Outdoor Retailer: Ospreys new gear
Just when you think backpack designs can’t get any more advanced and everything that could be improved, has been improved, along comes Osprey with their Atmos & Aura AG Packs. The “AG” stands for Anti Gravity, and while these packs may not truly defy gravity their innovation is no less impressive.
Atmos & Aura AG Packs
While the Osprey Atmos pack for him and Osprey Aura pack for her are not new additions to the Osprey line up (this is the 4th generation) their design has been radically overhauled for spring 2015. The addition of a new 3D contoured suspension system which is called “Anti-Gravity” makes these pack not just light but also body contouring. This means less weight and better fit which are both key factors in choosing the right pack.

The main features of the Anti-Gravity Suspension include:
- LightWire tensioned full peripheral frame: Comfortably transfers pack load and provides low-profile air space.
- Back panel with seamless suspended 3D mesh: This runs from the shoulder blade to the hip belt to disperse and balance loads.
- Harness: Uses unique stiffened load lifters to comfortably suspend the harness wrap over the back of the shoulders
- Fit-on-the Fly Hip belt: With suspended mesh hip wrap for load transfer and comfort and a gender-specific fit.
A few of the other upgrades on the 2015 Atmos and Aura packs include a “FlapJacket closure system” for travelling without a pack lid while still keeping the elements at bay and an internal top compression strap to ensure your pack load remains stable.
We can’t wait to get our hands on these new packs to get them in the field, test the hell out of them and report back to you with our findings. From what we saw at the Outdoor Retailer Show they look like a solid deign that will make our next mountain adventure that much better.
