Looking Back at 25 Years of Freeskiing, the Salomon TenEighty and JP Auclair.

It has been 25 years since the New Canadian Airforce came along and changed the course of skiing forever. Consisting of a motley crew of skiers (Mike Douglas, JF Cusson, Vincent Dorian, Philou Poirier and JP Auclair), the Airforce came to Salomon with an idea for the first high-performance twin tip ski. From there, the Salomon TenEighty was born.

As this was a time that snowboarding was starting to really take off (and skiing was pretty much a 'parent' sport), unleashing a twin-tip ski sparked a massive shift in the demographic of skiers. Now, skiers could land and take-off backwards, and generally just throw down.
