Be ready for your next adventure
Training: no one's favourite word. Unfortunately, it's an important word if you like being active. Training can take on many forms and serve many purposes. For some, it can simply mean maintenance and injury prevention, for others, it's also a way to improve and get to that next level.Running up some roots somewhere near Tofino.
As I creep closer to my 30th lap around the sun, maintenance has become something I care more about, and while I'm not outwardly competitive, I really enjoy competing against myself. I avoid the gym at all costs but find ways to increase my fitness without membership fees and usually find myself outside. While this has been going pretty well, I actively scour the interwebs in an attempt to find resources to guide me in activity specific exercises and stretches. One such resource I found recently is uphillathlete.com.
This site is a goldmine for those who like to play in the mountains! They have training resources specifically for alpinism, climbing, mountain running, mountaineering, ski mountaineering, and ski-mo racing. They offer tons of free training advice and specific exercises for each sport respectively. They also have articles on theory, practice, and athlete stories.

If you want to really step things up, they offer specialized training programs for very reasonable prices, and even offer coaching if you're looking for next level support.
Whether you've been actively training, or just toying with the idea, this site is well worth a look. Make sure you check it out!
