All-Canadian team summits Mount Logan
An all-Canadian team summited Canada’s highest peak, Mount Logan on May 18, 2021. The expedition had been postponed a year due to COVID-19, and their goal wasn’t necessarily just to summit. It was an interdisciplinary scientific expedition whose aim was to explore climate change on the 5959-metre peak. Their efforts included ice core extraction, remeasuring the summit’s elevation, and repeat photography, which is when a photo is taken from the exact same location as a historic one. Supported by the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, their goal is to advance scientists’ knowledge about climate change by looking back into Earth’s climatological past.Check out the full trip report here.
