All-Canadian team summits Mount Logan

An all-Canadian team summited Canada’s highest peak, Mount Logan on May 18, 2021.  The expedition had been postponed a year due to COVID-19, and their goal wasn’t necessarily just to summit.  It was an interdisciplinary scientific expedition whose aim was to explore climate change on the 5959-metre peak.  Their efforts included ice core extraction, remeasuring the summit’s elevation, and repeat photography, which is when a photo is taken from the exact same location as a historic one.  Supported by the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, their goal is to advance scientists’ knowledge about climate change by looking back into Earth’s climatological past.
