Future of Bolting in Canada and the USA ???
While we still have a snow drought in the West what better time to talk about bolting in North America? The US is moving ahead with a policy to restrict/eliminate bolting in national parks. What this will finally look like is still up in the air. The link to the article above from Nov 21 says there are just two months to voice your concern if you are a climber. In Canada, we have a blanket policy of no bolting in National parks but over the past two years and after COVID our bolting policy is coming under more attention. We might also be heading to more restrictions outside our National Parks. This article from Gripped from 2021 is a good view into this topic from the Cdn side.
So while we are still waiting on Mother Nature to bring us that great start to winter let's be sure to keep our summers bolt-friendly.
