Harnessing the Sun
This summer has been a hot one, and as you may have noticed, it's been dry. This combination has led to the 2018 fire season being worse than average here in BC. For folks further south, in California, things are on track to be one of the worst, if not the worst fire season they have recorded.Unfortunately, due to the nature of our changing climates, this may be the new norm. But while all this sun and lack of moisture is bad news for the forests, it's a not-so-friendly reminder of all the power our sun radiates down on the earth; fortunately for us, scientists have figured out how to harness that power.
The folks down at Spark R&D have begun installing solar panels on the roof of their 12,000 square foot building. The company makes splitboard bindings in Bozeman, MT, and they plan to do it with the help of a 50kW solar photovoltaic system.
