MEC Avalanche Safety Grant Provides AST Courses for BIPOC Organizations

Mountain Equipment Company is helping to make Avalanche Safety Training courses available to all Canadians. The MEC Avalanche Safety Grant is aimed at not-for-profit organizations that serve under-represented communities, allowing for more Canadians to learn about the winter backcountry.

This grant will fund up to four AST 1 courses in BC and Alberta this winter, for up to eight students per course. The MEC Avalanche Safety Grant is one part of AvCan's initiatives to ensure our programs and services are welcoming to Canada’s diverse population.
