Out in the Sierra
It's Wednesday. Some of us are sitting down to a day of work so aptly named " hump day" while others may never see this post because they are off on some fun adventure. Others simply work weekends and maybe some don't work at all. Whatever your situation sometimes a little outside inspiration is the spark you need before embarking on your next adventure or maybe your first adventure. I personally struggle with defeated dreams of adventure when the pieces don't align perfectly. Either it's logistics, weather or lack of partners there are so many reasons not to do something. I think most of us secretly want our grand adventure plans to fall through simply because we are afraid of the adventure itself. No better guilt free excuse than " my partner bailed " or " looks kinda rainy ". After all, you can't fail sometimes you never started in the first place. Sometimes limiting the pieces of the puzzle makes it much easier to complete the picture.Kalen Thorien, professional skier/ adventurer takes on the Sierra Nevada high traverse, solo. 435km of scrambling over scree, high passes, ridges, and breathtaking scenery over 18 days Kalen documents her journey through the high traverse. As with any Salomon production, the cinematography is worth the watch but Kalen does a great job of showing the emotional highs and lows felt on this kind of trip, especially alone. Watch "out in the Sierra" below hopefully it gets through the work week or maybe it will spark your next adventure, either way, enjoy.
