THE SILK RIDE: A JOURNEY TO KYRGYZSTAN
The Silk Road was once a commercial network of trade routes connecting China and the far East with the Middle East and Europe. Although it hasn’t seen merchant traffic for some 600 years, the network still stands as a representation of interconnectedness across the continents — having impacted the commerce, culture and the history of their peoples in ways that still resonates today.
The Silk Road Freeride is a collaborative event that was launched throughout Central Asia, stitching together individual ski competitions across different countries to create a regional and international sporting event modelled after the Freeride World Tour. It aims to support athletes, coaches and other staff, as well as foster a skiing community between participating nations so as to help push their progression of the sport.
'Silk Ride,' is a film about the two inspired men who teamed up to organize the first of these Silk Road Freeride events. Check it out!
