Skiing in South America is on
The ski season here in North America is winding down with only Arapahoe Basin, CO and Timberline Lodge, OR still open—but in the southern hemisphere, things are just getting going. An early May snowfall dropped record-breaking snowfall of almost eight feet in Argentina and Chile. Several ski resorts have since opened with Corralco Resort de Montaña in Chile being the first to open on May 18th.The ski season in Chile doesn’t generally start until June. With resorts opening as late as mid to late July some years. This year is a different story with the early season snow providing a great base for several reports to open much earlier than what is typical. If you are thinking of heading south for a ski holiday then consider heading to Chile in mid-July to mid-September as this is when the skiing is usually the best. Argentina is not that much different from Chile in that their resorts typically open in mid-June, however, they too should be ahead of schedule and open a few weeks early.
No matter where you are heading down south it seems like things are off to a great start and this could be a longer season than normal, so what are you waiting for?
