Squamish SAR: 5 incidents in 3 days
As restrictions ease and parks open, it's easier now for our mindsets to drift back to a time pre-COVID. With recreation being given the green light, many are returning to our outdoor spaces and rightfully so! As we all venture out into the spaces we love to play in, it's important to remember we are not out of the woods just yet.Image courtesy of the Squamish Chief.
The last few days of May yielded a busy time for Squamish Search and Rescue with a total of 5 incidents in 3 days. The incidents mostly involved locals and were well within the capacity of the response system, but recreationists are still being asked to avoid taking extra risks.
SAR teams are required to operate under pandemic protocols which means rescues may take longer. While this has not yet caused a delay, the potential is there.
