The Fifty - Mt. Currie
Having spent all of my life, until recently, on the coast I’ve spent a lot of time in Pemberton. The views of Mt. Currie never get old. In my opinion it’s probably the most aesthetic mountain there is. It stands at an elevation of 2591 meters, has a vertical rise of approx. 2400 meters and towers over the town and valley. To climb it in the summer involves a long, full day’s hike up the back side. Needless to say, despite its impressive stature it’s not jam packed with people. To climb it in the winter, well that’s a different story.Most of those that attempt to ski Currie arrive at the top via helicopter. Meanwhile, guys like Cody Townsend and Chris Rubens take the mountaineers way and climb from valley bottom. An impressive feat.
