        Avalanche airbag system designs have evolved significantly since the 2000s, coming a long way from the initial prototypes unveiled to public in 1985. These days, whether you choose to go electronically-activated or canister-powered, both systems rapidly inflate to increase your probability of survival in an avalanche, and have pros and cons regarding weight, fan requirements, number of deployments, the re-packing of the bag after deployment, etc. 

        It's always exciting to see how advancements in technology and design continue to change the avalanche airbag system. Ortovox and Arc'teryx have recently released AVABAG LiTRIC, an award-winning electric avalanche bag. Coming in at around 2.4lbs and a fully-charged battery that can deploy twice within a 60-hour period, it's worth taking a look at. Check it out!
