Bear attacks ice climber
You may have heard of the grizzly that attacked an ice climber last week but the location of the attack is pretty surprising . Greg Boswell was climbing on Mount Wilson when he and his partner reached he top of the route they got a surprise of a lifetime.
On a shelf at the top of the route was a denning girzzly bear who was not in the mood for the surprise visit of a couple of ice climbers. Greg was promptly bit on the leg which he described as clamped down and required him to physically open the bears jaws so it would release him. Once the bear finally let go and the pair of climbers were able to scramble away, they were not in the clear. Some serious rappelling and a hike out was still required. Not to mention that there was still a bear in the immediate area. Greg and company managed to get down and home safely. Numerous stitches and some couch time will have Greg in climbing form again shortly.
