Hello Matt,

If you have a new generation transceiver (multiple burial feature) and have practiced with it, you'll be fine. You'll have to lead a rescue, call on the radio, find, probe and shovel, and you'll have helpers. This is the easiest part of the course.

My advice would be to practice a bit of everything you'll see on the course, because that course is very fast paced. Practice your digging skills, snow profile, snow tests, avalanche observations.

I found that the teaching/learning part is the classroom stuff where you can ask lots of questions, and the field stuff is more an ongoing test as they seem to assume you've already done that stuff a hundred times.

I found more info in my course manual (how embarassing!) and it spells out the expectations clear as day. Page 97 incase anyone else is wondering.
