Carl Eliason + The Birth of the Modern Snowmobile
Widely recognized as the inventor of the modern snowmobile, Joseph-Armand Bombardier's teenage inventions set the groundwork for the concept machines that would eventually become Ski Doo snowmobiles.Carl Eliason, a not-so-well-known name in the game, was instrumental in the development of the snowmobile however, after introducing a forward-mounted two-stroke engine, single track and ski steering (all of which are designs still used today). Yet, I'd argue that we don't really know too much about Eliason, even though he made 40 snowmobiles in the 1920's and patented them in 1927.
Check out this neat little documentary chronicling Eliason's story, as told by his granddaughter, Jona.
