Charges will not be laid in human triggered avalanche that killed two Alberta men

Criminal charges will not be laid in connection with a human-triggered avalanche that killed two snowmobilers last month near Revelstoke, B.C.

RCMP say there is no evidence to support charges against any organizers of the event that brought upwards of 200 people into the backcountry to play in the fresh mountain snow.
Two Alberta men died and scores more were buried and then rescued when snow thundered down on them as three sledders began high marking.

Police say the Big Iron Shootout was limited to drag racing in a flatter portion of the valley and only when that ended did some head over to the steeper area of Boulder Mountain.
An avalanche warning was in effect for the area at the time.

Mounties reviewed the findings of their investigation with B.C. Crown counsel and chose not to submit a recommendation for charges.
