Days of my Youth does not disappoint
Nelson BC is no stranger to ski movie premiers. The fourth premier this season to stoke our fire for winter was presented by Red Bull Media House and Matchstick Productions. Sponsored by backcountryskiingcanada.com and Whitewater Winter Resort, DAYS OF MY YOUTH is a reflection on life and days spent doing what you love; skiing. This film features the good, the bad and the ugly; deep powder skiing with friends, droughts & injuries, and fear of avalanches and death. Filmed with multiple athletes from Alaska to Peru, the majority of shots were right here in our own beautiful backyard, British Columbia.
Although the music seemed slow for certain high-energy lines, the soundtrack is undeniably solid with tracks suitable for all ages. The cinematic effects contrast the hustle and bustle of city life against the serenity and stoke of the mountains as the athletes perform to the height of their careers, showcasing immaculate style in all conditions. Their narration throughout the film is humbling as they light-heartedly discuss line selection, fear, and the life of a pro skier. In the end these down to earth professionals keep doing it for the same reason any of us do… because it’s fun!
Weather you are a skier, snowboarder, ski-jorer or beyond, this film will excite any winter enthusiast and remind you that, “you don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.”
