Glacier Nat'l Park...eh, cold enough?...SOAP BOX COMP
I don't have as many backcountry skiing notches on my belt as I like, but here are a few pics from…well, chillier times. Above is Iceberg Lake at Glacier National Park. Beautiful place and I spent 7 days in the backcountry on a great loop, even strolling a few miles in Canada. It was my first backcountry hiking/camping trip EVER and it changed the way I feel about the world around me. I'm in it to win it now and always have my camera in hand. I may not be able to keep all of my memories, but this pictures will last forever.
Group shot after we all took a full body plunge, had the timer set for 30 seconds. Longest 30 seconds ever! I mean, if you see this lake in its beauty…you might as well experience it from head to toe, right? This was a late fall trip, so I may be on a soap box ON the soap box, but some sweet winter weather gear will help me out with some planning I have for the Appalachian Trail next winter. I borrowed nearly all of my gear and some of my own would be sweet! Lesson from this picture: if you're going to be cold, might as well be numb from waist down with your friends!
Overlook on two glaciers near Red Gap Pass, nearing 8,000 ft in elevation.
Finally, the picture below is from my alma mater, Western Carolina University. In college it was only about 25-30 minute ride and we had some nice skiing. It was skiing for the family and all which is great! I think everything that is in this post is about friends and family and to get every person out there and TAKE A LONG COLD BREATH and enjoy!! Soap Box Comp 2014!
