Mike Foote Sets New 24 Hour Record for Vertical Ascent
Ultrarunner and US Skimo team member Mike Foote of Montana has set a new world record for most vertical skied in a 24 hour period.
His total? 18 654 meters. That's not a typo.
For perspective, that's 2 ascents of Mt. Everest from sea level with a quick bonus lap of something smaller at the end for good measure. It's also roughly 18 laps of Grizzly Shoulder at Rogers Pass or 6213 flights of stairs as counted by your phone's health tracker app.
Congratulations Mike! We hope you're having a well-deserved nap.
