PHOTO COMP Hike up to Flute bowl.
After a couple of week’s spring weather in Whistler we finally got a decent dump of snow. We'd been playing about in the trees most of the day as the visibility was so poor, but in the afternoon I suggested maybe trying our luck at flute bowl.
The idea was generally frowned upon (rightly so, the vis was poor) but I thought it may just be worth heading up top to see if it was any better. As it turned out not many others had the same idea and we were in luck. Just as we rounded the corner the clouds began to clear and the sun broke through. Even though I was in some kind of manic race to get to the top before anyone else, with the thought of the epic powder turns in store for us, I simply couldn't miss taking this shot.
There seems to be a kind of eerie quality about the shot, almost like battle tired soldiers walking into the mist.
For me it really sums up the saying 'it doesn't matter how good the camera you own is, it's whether you have it with you' and thankfully on this day I did!
