SOAP BOX - Ymir
Ymir, the amazing mountain you see as you approach the Whitewater ski resort for the first time, stood there proudly, looming over the whole area, enticing you to jump out of your vehicle and give it a proper moment of praise. Many an awesome day all came together with Ymir inducing some higher level of stoke from it's towery heights.
I'll never forget my first ascent up to the top of Half Dome, wondering what my buddy was doing bringing us up to this unknown spot in the great Kootenay clag, when all of a sudden the cloud broke and I was greeted by this amazing sight (see photo above). That day with Ymir looming in the background from that wonderful vantage I saw a mountain that I would come across many times in the near future and never get tired of seeing. The experience and the awe that comes from getting to ski down it's flanks time and time again is something that never seems to get dull.
Surely many Kootenay folk and visitors alike feel the same way time and time again when they get to ski down its flanks or gaze at it's beautiful features on a clear day. Without directly saying that this could be the finest ski terrain on the planet with it's signature peaks and amazing snow, skiing down the slopes of Ymir Mountain on a sunny day in perfect snow conditions with good friends could definitely contend with the best Happy skiing!
Please enjoy some photos of my many amazing Ymir experiences!
