Sugarloaf USA goes backcountry
Sugarloaf USA located in Maine is doubling the size of its current operation and it is all slated to be backcountry/slackcountry gladed skiing. Having skied Sugarloaf for many, many years and experienced their uncrowded powder rich operation - this will be a big boost to what they currently have to offer. They already offer the only above tree line skiing in the east and this will position them to be the biggest ski resort east of the rockies. Go Sugarloaf.

Work will begin Monday on an expansion to Burnt Mountain. For years ski enthusiasts have talked about getting the opportunity to ski on the next peak.
The mountainside won't look like your typical ski resort with clearly marked trails and chairlifts. The Burnt Mountain portion will offer more natural, backcountry skiing.
It is just part of a 10 year development plan which includes 500 new snow guns, new chairlifts, year round events and a facelift for the lodge.
