Sweetgrass' Valhalla-Behind the Scenes
As the worldwide release of Sweetgrass Production's new film Valhalla approaches, Backcountry Skiing Canada will be releasing a series of interviews showing behind the scenes from the athletes and producers that helped create this unique snow film narrative. Valhalla is a story of youth, love, loss and freedom and was filmed in and around the back country of British Columbia and Alaska. For the last two years Sweetgrass has made their home in Nelson, BC where they have explored the culture of the mountains and surrounding area. Hosting athletes, artist, photographers and travelers in their home on the hill above town the last two winters have provided new experiences, relationships, ideas and imagery. Please join us as we attempt to give a glimpse of the time and energy that went into this project.

Throughout the night, rime would build on the fringes of nylon surrounding your face. As you slept you had to be careful not to move too suddenly or you'd be showered in frozen tendrils of frost on your face and eyes. The inside surface of the tent would grow feathering collections of frozen breath that would cling delicately above you, threatening to ruin precious moments of needed rest…"
