Canuck Splitfest 2017
This past weekend in Revelstoke, BC was the 7th annual Canuck Splitfest, an event started by the late Wade Galloway who passed away in 2014 as a result of an avalanche. He continues to bring the splitboard community together once a year, as an opportunity for us to share our passion of splitboarding and the mountains with other likeminded splitboarders. With the help of Avalanche Canada and this year’s sponsor, Revelstoke’s own Trapper Snowboards, many had the opportunity to meet new friends, share gear tips and tricks and share a weekend of backcountry travel up at Rogers Pass.
Aside from splitboarding in the mountains all weekend, Trapper Snowboards held an open house at their factory Friday night with burgers, beer and music. It was an opportunity to have a look inside the production and manufacturing of a splitboard. Saturday night was the sponsor trade show and splitboard demo at the Revelstoke Rec Centre. A raffle, silent auction and presentations from Avalanche Canada, Park’s Canada, and John Buffery filled the evening. Check out The Revelstoke Mountaineer for photos of this event.
If you’re just hearing about this now, don’t worry, Canuck Splitfest 2018 will surely be bigger than before as the event is growing in numbers every year. Check out their facebook page; Canuck Splitfest.
