SOAP Box - Observations
Driving down a wet highway and seeing the peaks starting to poke out through the clouds, we quickly switched objectives from a south-facing avalanche path with a low starting elevation to something more suitable: a north-facing glacier run!
Access was certainly not trivial.
Visibility was in and out, but we had some great views at the top.
Said glacier run offered up a choice of heli wiggles or casual straightlines.
We enjoyed a couple of runs, refilled in by the howling winds before heading back up to get out of there. The exit was a little sporty up high, skiing very "dry". As we got lower, the skiing improved, but the snow was definitely getting damp. After a tough exit up high, this reinforced our decision to ski north today!
