The Perfect Fall Day: Paddling Kootenay Lake

After a beautiful drive from the Coast under sunny skies, I found myself on Kootenay Lake, paddle in hand yesterday, enjoying this view… 

I love getting out on the water. The larches were bright yellow, it was warm, and I spent the afternoon paddling through little diamond sparkles. There is so much to explore on Kootenay Lake – pretty pebble beaches to swim at, quiet campsites and incredible views. 

For this mini adventure we stayed in the river between Nelson and the big lake, watching horse back riders run along the beaches, and just enjoying the perfect fall day. After seeing so much green water and green trees on the coast, it was a feast for the eyes to have a new color palette of deep blues and yellows. All in all, it was an awesome day.
