K Pass Dec. 6/7 conditions
Did some short laps yesterday and today at Kootenay Pass. Limited time so did laps off Stagleap Peak. Ripped the south face in the sun Monday and was greeted with heavy, soft powder. In the steeper chutes balls of snow turned into impressive pinwheels. The north side was still light and fluffy, but pretty tracked out. Stability was good and coverage was some of the best I've seen in the Koots so far this year. Still a few rocks but with the snowfall that's supposed to start tonight it should be good to go. I'd be cautious over the next few days on south/southwest faces - if get as much snow as forecasted - due to the sun/wind crust. Here's some pics of the views Monday from Stagleap:
