Kootenay Pass 12/18-12/19.

Hello,

Quick intro, my name is Chuck, my girlfriend and I moved to Spokane for a year to complete a residency and do some skiing in the PNW and CAN :) We are newbies when it comes to the Kootenay area, and are planning a short trip this weekend to check out the pass. We skied in the southern Selkirks (Idaho) the last couple of weekends, finding a rather deep / stable snowpack, until the past weeks warm weather that is....rain:(

We are toying with the idea of ripple creek hut for saturday night... will anyone from the forum be up there? Or does anyone have some good backup lodging favs?

Things should be better up at the pass given the elevation - however that pineapple express did warm things up all over. The good side is the snow pack is pretty stable these days - "ripple Ridge Cabin" is a great spot but you gotta get in early to ensure you get a spot as you cannot book it - plan be is winter camp in the woods and use the cabin for heat and wait until someone leaves?
