Photo Comp - Our first time
On the way down to the Coldsmoke Festival, (where I got 2nd in the ROAM race and had an awesome time demoing gear and soaking up the atmosphere) we decided to hit up Kootenay Pass. After leaving early in the morning, we arrived just after 9. We had to change into our shredding clothes at the trailhead, and during our brief stints outside unprotected by our outer layers, we noticed that it was actually pretty cold. “We’re from the rockies! We are used to it!”. The words, “It never gets cold in the interior” may have been eaten... The cold seemed all too familiar.
We slowly worked out way up to the south side of the pass, noticing that the snowpack was supportive, and stoked to be gaining elevation immediately: no bushwacking, and no long approaches. The first couple of turns from the top were full-on snow vest, something I do not get to enjoy as often as I would like. I had fun airing off of a buried tree.
