Two days after the last dump, WH2O was tracked out. As we had only a few days in Nelson and were looking for pow, we headed to Kootenays Pass. While hicking up our way to Cornice Ridge, the wind started blowing from the east. This attractive fresh dusty snow soon strarted to solid and we had to realize it was gonna be wind-packed with high avy risk du to the wind slab. Though south facing, we decided to head down to the lake trough the sparse  wood and ended-up yo-yoing the area. The snow was stable, still very fresh, and just deep enough so we could face down the steepest parts. After these first turns we'd captured, we knew we would not regret our choice!
