Ripple Ridge User Fees In Effect
The Ripple Ridge Cabin at Kooteny Pass is no longer a free cabin, you must book your stay in advance for $10/person/night. Some may say this is unfortunate that what was a 'free cabin' is now a pay per use cabin. Think of the up side though, one of the most easily accessible cabins in the alpine within spitting distance to Nelson and Rossland can now be reseverd for a minimal fee. For years I have not considered Ripple Ridge Cabin for my backcountry skiing trips due to the fact that you never knew if someone would be there before you and the cabin would be full, or worse yet - the late arrivers who cram in at 11:30 at night. No more carrying in a tent just in case the cabin is full.
The Creston Valley Quad Squad is taking on the handling and booking of the cabin (thanks for that) so if you want to book it have a look over here.
*Remember that this is a non motorized area in winter months and there are no dogs allowed due to the endangered Mountain Caribou recovery efforts. Also, your booking is non-refundable.
