Small slab slide, Kootenay Pass, Nov. 27, 2010
At the end of Ripple Ridge near Lightning Strike peak we met some friends this afternoon who just skied a similar North/North East aspect but less steep. We decided to try a little steeper entry and I was first to cut in. Two turns in, and a 15 to 20cm wind slab released easily. I climbed out with much difficulty. With the stormsnow tonight, this has potential to be much bigger. Take caution. Also, a rain crust 70 to 80cms down but fairly well bonded...kind of.
