Mt Aqualung Soap Box Comp
Another good day touring out of Kimberley. The original goal was to tour up into an area none of us had previously checked out. Unfortunately the access road had seen some heavy washouts in last the flooding last summer and some of the crossing were challenging. After numerous bouts fighting to unstuck sleds one particularly nasty debris slide across the road ended the adventure. Turning tail we headed back to the main valley, fortunately a regular destination, Mt Aqualung, was nearby. As we skinned up the mountain the promise of breaking above the sea of clouds hung just over our heads, but by the time we broke above the valley cloud a high overcast had settled in and hidden the blue from us. Fortunately the skiing was in excellent shape and provided a worthwhile consolation prize. More good Purcell turns!
