RMR Backcountry?
Had an awesome tour out of bounds from Revelstoke Mountain Resort last week. Even though we rode the lifts up I don't think it can be categorized as slackcountry because we skinned all of the vertical that we skiied. We basically just rode the lifts to get out of the rain, not entirely sure where we ended up - we had a local showing us the way and the vis was pretty bad (due to the snow, so no complaints). I guess it would be called the backside, perhaps part of the North Bowl.
Once we rode to the top of the ripper chair we skinned under a bowl that was part of the resort, out the boundary - it was definitely a bit of a slug to get therer but we had an amazing 800m run through well spaced trees, with lots of mello hucking cliffs. really cool terrain - things are so much bigger there then around my home base of Nelson. We then skinned up past were we started onto a ridge that faces the resort and rode a sweet feature called "Birthday Chute" back in bounds, and then skiied a leg burning 5000 ft back down to the resort parking lot.
So not really sure what that could be defined as Backcountry, side country, slackcountry - anybody have defintions for these things?
