Comp: Mt. Forbes Descent
This is a movie I made in December about Independent Power Projects and their impact on British Columbia. Last May, I gathered footage over the course of an eight day ski traverse along the Great Divide from the Mons Icefield to Peyto Lake, a ski descent of Mt. Forbes and a canoe powered ski trip in the Northern Monashees (Frenchman's Cap and Hat Peak). While skiing may not have a whole lot to do with the IPP issue, it helps one grasp the beauty of the natural world that exists outside of the city limits. There lies the issue, wilderness, should it be conserved for the benefit of generations to come, or should we develope it for the for our own sake?
The film encorporates interviews with Chic Scott, Norm MacDonald MLA NDP and Pat Morrow and a perspective on Independent Power Projects' impact on British Columbians and the environment alike. The message is conveyed through skiing, snowboarding, canoeing and exploring in the Columbia River Basin. Enjoy footage from the Monashee, Selkirk and Rocky mountains.
