Divide Creek
Hi Went up Divide Creek to the Whyte Niblock col on Sunday Feb 28. The Great Divide pullout on Trans Canada 1 has been ploughed so you don’t need to shuffle along the cross country trail from the Lake O’Hara parking lot, which is kind of nice. There is a good trail that takes you to tree line and into the moraines below the glacier. The lower moraines are pretty wind hammered but once you get up to the glacier it’s not so bad, just kind of wind pressed. The crevasses on the glacier are pretty open and there is only about 1.5 to 2 meters of snow where it’s not stripped off to the ice. We stayed on the climbers left and went up to the Whyte Niblock col which has great views and better skiing then you’d think, not great but acceptable given how long it has been since it snowed.
