From climbing to skiing and climbing again
Had an amazing easter weekend with 4 days of alternating skiing and climbing. The skiing behind the Lake Louise ski area and up on the Icefields parkway was enjoyable in the sun, on north facing aspects. Temps were well above zero! Shadey patches were crusty. East and west aspects- not so great. Could use some snow to freshen things up, or else its climbing season!
The climbing was fantastic. Did an easy day in Banff on Tunnel Mountain. No, the rock was not cold, temps were around 14c and the sun was warm. A bit of loose rock, as can be expected in early season. Yesterday we made the trek up to Echo Canyon in Canmore. No loose rock there. The hike was good, people out biking too! A few slippery patches on the way down at 8pm but the bases were clear of snow and baking in the sun.
