PHOTO COMP - Backcountry Action

For the last year or so I’ve been concentrating on learning the techniques of action photography.  The transition from shooting alone on a tripod to taking my camera out with me on mountain biking and backcountry ski trips has been both fun and a challenge.  The difference between shooting your friends on any given midday trek and shooting professional action images is immense.  A moving subject, avalanche danger, dynamic light and trying to stay in front of your model really ups the ante.  My motto has become, “Just bring your camera and try and stay in front.”  Wish me luck!
