Surprise Pass
Was up to Surprise Pass on Saturday March 23… Very cold to start the day (-21 @ 8:30 am) but warmed to about -5 in the sun relatively quickly. Blue skies, no wind… a really nice day in the mountains.
Snow conditions were excellent. There was an established track that looked to be only a day or two old. Some very small sloughs on the south facing slopes coming up the Valley, most likely sun related, but no major slides noticed.
The North facing ski down was excellent. Still lots of room for fresh tracks when the chute widens out. Snow felt very firm underneath with about a foot of fresh snow on the top.
All in all, an excellent day out!
