Holy ridge Batman
Okay so its been a while since I posted, about a month ago actually. That probably has quite a bit to do with the fact that it just hasn't really snowed this month now has it? That being said the skiing in Revelstoke has been pretty bad in general or acceptable at certain elevations followed by boiler plate tree skiing to skiing over refrozen wet avalanche debris. Fun! Well I won't lie, I did spend a good chunk of time pouting at home but I have been enjoying the sun and good stability as of late . Anything above 2100-2200m ish is starting to dry out and very skiable. We spent our time exploring the slackcountry of RMR and have been having a blast these last few weeks.
Here are a few photos of what up for grabs if you are not opposed to the "sporty " bits bellow 2200m.
Heading into the cat terrain
plenty of options
Taking the stairs, at least booting is easy
Scenic spot for a hang out
Montana bowl? or is it kokanee ?
Day 2 , lets ski something steep
Cornices are big right now
Some cool stuff over yander
Tasty! Long way down.
Surfs up!
Skied the face on the left. Highlight of the season.
There was about 4 areas like this and it sucked.
Skin track out was terrible, lots of side hilling with zero ski pen. Jay dropped his pole and it didn't stop for about 80m. Butt sliding conditions are favourable however.
So moral of the story, its great skiing above 2200m, it's work below that but hey, it's sunny and skiing is so much better than not skiing!
