8812 Bowl Roger Pass
Spent Sunday up in Rogers pass on a quick tour to ski 8812 Bowl at Rogers Pass and the snow was surprisingly good considering the minimal amount outside the Glacier Park Lodge. It was -15 overcast with a bit of sun and the snow was light, fluffy and unfortunately bottomless (not in the good way). There was just over a meter of snow in the bowl and tracks everywhere as this is a good early season ski – but you can always squish in a few more on the sides, and so that was the plan.
We decided to avoid the giant alders all together and head almost to the end of Balu Pass and then skin right up 8812 Bowl in order to scope out our lines. It was a quick up and down for the day and ran into Greg Hill on his 4th lap of the day to complete his required 8000' vert.
Forecast is for more cold and sun, and more cold and then some more cold – we need some more snow and unfortunately a little P-tex.
Well worth the price of admission.
