Comp: Powder and Sun
Last week it was raining in Revy, it cooled off and the skies cleared up…what's that spell? GET AFTER IT.
There are a lot of yahoos in this town, but today was full of them, Joey and Mark were the split contingent and Greg and I were the two plankers of the posse. I always enjoy skiing with them because they're always up for a good time.
The plan started out loosely, 8812's SE face was high on our radar.
Seeing as the ACS was sighting in their Howitzer, most every thing was closed today. Connaught Creek is full of options, Ursus Minor is pretty laden with lines, not to mention a fun and exhilarating ridge climb.
So it was and we were on our way to Bruins Pass.
8812 bowl looked sweet and the run off the summit of 8812 peak looked like soft and creamy wind rippled pow. But first we had to get there.
Greg put in a nice bootpack to the summit. Now for the goods—
The SE face is a sporty place to ski, but today it was all locked up, save a bit of slough. Here's Mark dropping in.
It is a hard run to follow up, but it was only shortly after noon when we reached Connaught Creek. The only option was up, so we had a quick bite to eat and we were back on the stair machine again.
By 230pm, we'd reached the col to the west of the summit of Ursus Minor, just in time to catch the begining of the sunset on a peak.
Joey getting past the exposed part of the climb.
Mark walking the ridge.
What's Rogers Pass with out a look at the Don?
As the light was going flat, we slid off the summit and got to ski this run…kind of a crappy foreshortened view of Ursus Minor's SE couloir. I guess it leaves a bit to the imagination…
Once again, Rogers Pass fueled the stoke. That joint is awesome! Nice light, powder snow and sharing some good times with friends— life doesn't get much better. Gotta love it!
