Avalanche Conditions Report VIDEO #3
What a week it's been! With over a metre of snow falling in the past seven days in the region it will be a Holiday Season to remember for most. While all this snow made for great skiing it also resulted in a high avalanche hazard in the backcountry. The December 4th Melt Freeze Crust that was created during that 'atmospheric River' has resulted in a low probability/high consequence avalanche situation currently.A skier accidental size 2-2.5 avalanche occurred a few days ago on December 27th just outside Whitewater Ski Resort. Two people sustained serious injuries and are thankfully recovering in hospital. The slide was initiated on this December 4th crust and was triggered in a shallow rocky start zone.
Watch the following Avalanche Conditions Video for more information and details on what to know before you head into the backcountry.
Play it safe out there!
