West Coast North Shore Avalanche Conditions January 12, 2024
Backcountry Skiing Canada and North Shore Search and Rescue have teamed up to bring you Andre-Jean's weekly avalanche report from the Sea to Sky corridor. This is a great addition to our mandate to provide useful backcountry safety information to our community of self-propelled athletes. This week Andre-Jean discusses the unusual conditions on the North Shore due to our artic vortex that has settled in. Surface facets have formed in the NS snowpack so our next storm will be critical for our hazard. If the next storm comes in warm and wet this might help lower our hazard but if the next storm comes in cold and dry we might have a problem we do not usually see in our NS snowpack. Check out the video below for full details.
Also, be sure to check out Avalanche Canada for a full Avalanche Danger scale rating for your region.
