        North Shore Avalanche Conditions March 1, 2024

        Backcountry Skiing Canada is pleased to continue our partnership with North Shore SAR and Andre-Jean to update you on the North Shore mountain snowpack conditions.

        What a difference a week can make.  Yes, winter has finally returned to BC, especially the North Shore mountains.  AJ gives us a great look into the current snowpack on the North Shore.  AJ runs down why the North Shore is not included in our SPAW (Special Public Avalanche Warning) that is covering most of the province after our recent storm.  Great information to help you stay safe out there in the backcountry this week.

        If you want a detailed snowpack update on our West Kootenay area check out our own Backcountry Skiing Canada update on Feb 29 with WH2O forecaster Jay Wishie.  We have had some wild conditions in the Kootenays lately, with VERY large slides running on our Feb 1 crust.  Let's all do our part to stay informed and safe out there in the next few weeks.
