Recent Accident Shows Colorado's Persistent Slab Problem is Sinister as Ever
Though its been 3 weeks, this accident report is worth reading. This incident occurred during an AIARE Level II course and highlights just how dangerous a persistent slab problem can be. These individuals appeared to do everything safely, although the exposure to overhead hazard and some misrepresented data about the slope angle of the terrain ultimately resulted in a fatality. My personal takeaway: pushing the envelope with slope angle in a persistent slab scenario is asking for trouble, as your data may not be reliable or consistent.Read more in the CAIS report here.
