Pyreness Avalance Caught on Camera

This video came up on my Youtube suggestions feed the other day. I was about to skip over it but at the last second I decided to click on it and watch the first bit to see what it was. It turns out it’s a pretty interesting live account of an avalanche in the Pyrenees. Given that everyone in the group was wearing cameras the event was filmed from multiple locations. The video is definitely hard to watch at times, the rescue of the buried victim was not exactly textbook and it seems only one of the searchers had a shovel. In any case I am not one to armchair quarterback and videos such as these provide lessons for all of us.
 
The first part of the video is the live avalanche and rescue and the second half if an analysis of the conditions, terrain, and preparedness. The subtitles are a little hard to read but overall it’s worth the viewing.
