Blowdown Pass in Summer
Maybe some of you have been here in winter to go snowmobiling or ski touring off the Duffy Lake Road north of Whistler and Pemberton? It is great in the summer too. There are a lot of good mountains to climb in this area, some of them technical like Joffre, but lots of scrambles and hikes requiring no equipment. This is the area around Blowdown Pass.
There are some flagged trails in the area, but we had more fun picking our own routes above treeline.
This is one of the many treasures the coast mountains have to offer.. no people, spectacular scenery and perfect weather. If you look in Matt Gunn's scrambles book you'll see that there are a ton of other mountains to climb in the area as well, some of them from the same logging road. You could easily spend a week in this small area of have lots to explore.
